Until now I couldnt find a plugin for Wordpress that works with RomanCart so it was one of the things that other carts do and RomanCart does not simply because no one seems to support it enough. Is there a premium one I have missed? That has now changed and no one can claim that other plugins do more on Wordpress because....
I found one eventually... Well I created it, sort off. I actually modified eStore plugin for Wordpress. It automatically creates new posts when you submit a product with the product button in the post. You can still checkout with other methods but users can now select RomanCart to checkout. Have a look... http://www.exhibitionvision.co.uk/NEWSITE/furniture/conference-chair Only add that product, only product setup properly right now. Thats still under construction but you get the point. Still some finishing touches to make but it seems to be working great. If your using Wordpress and need a good shopping cart eStore is brilliant but if your also a RomanCart fan then you might just need to contact myself. Simply buy eStore from Amin, he is brilliant, lots of support from his site. Plugin is a great price, I suspect he could and might increase it. Then once you have your plugin just contact me and for only £49.99 I will make the required changes so that your customers can choose to checkout with RomanCart. Just email info@webtechglobal.co.uk Regards Ryan www.webtechglobal.co.uk |

confused. Looked at your demo and still can't work it out ie looks the same as if you pressed add to cart on any other page to me. Probably not computer geek enough to understand.

The difference is this is Wordpress. Most sites using RomanCart that I have had to work on are HTML which is very restrictive. PHP is far better and Wordpress is a whole new level. It is a content management system so basically my clients can manage their own websites.
Put it this way there is a form you fill out, submit and you suddenly have a new product on your site, a whole new page and can edit them quickly at anytime. The news here is that I can now provide a "plugin" that allows customers with Wordpress to instantly add RomanCart to it. Something I've not seen being done before despite thousands of sites being built with Wordpress. Are you using HTML websites? |

Yes, using HTML and am currently happy with that, however, I can now understand better what you are talking about with the added explanation. Thanks.

Wordpress is brilliant as a content manager with loads of plugins for different things, but if you are familiar with HTML you can add Romancart links just as easily as with a static site.
Just create anything you like in HTML, add the Romancart links and post it as a page or a post in your WordPress site. Here is my site www.TyrePal.co.uk |

Using the Joomla CMS with the K2 add on would provide this kind of functionality although even without K2 we have a great success with Romancart and Joomla ;)

We've recently released a Wordpress Plugin that makes it easy to integrate RomanCart with a wordpress site. It uses the wordpress 'shortcodes' format so that you don't need to know anything about html to use it.
There's a free version (RomanCartWPPluginStd) available now. Just search for RomanCart in your Plugins -> Add New -> search. This version lets you easily make add to basket buttons and links etc. There's also a premium version (RomanCartWPPluginPro) available via wpplugins.com (http://wpplugins.com/plugin/116/romancartwppluginpro) which does all the Remote Data Delivery stuff (ie pulling product price and stock levels back live from the RomanCart Product Manager). You'd only need to consider the Pro version if you've got the RomanCart Gold Subscription level or higher as below that the Remote Data isn't available. I've got more stuff planned to add into this plugin in future, but that depends really on whether it's popular enough to warrant it. Here's a quick example of how it works: After you've installed the plugin, go to the settings page and enter your StoreId. Then you can just include normal text like: [romancart] anywhere in a page or post and the plugin will convert it into the correct html depending on the parameters. you don't have to switch to HTML view - you just type it as if you were typing normal text into a page. The plugin does the work for you. Here are the examples from the plugin's settings page: A button to view the basket [romancart action="viewBasketButton"] A link to view the basket [romancart action="viewBasketLink" text="View Basket"] A button to add a product to the basket based on the details in Product Manager in Roman Cart [romancart action="addToBasketButton" itemcode="itemcode"] A link to add a product to the basket based on the details specified in the shortcode [romancart action="addToBasketLink" itemname="item name" price="price" quantity="qty" text="Link Text"] Pro-Feature: Load product data from romancart [romancart action="loadDataForCategory" categoryid="1"] Pro-Feature: Show loaded product data [romancart action="showLoadedData" datatype="price" itemcode="itemcode"] Valid datatype values are: price stock availability notavailablemsg qtyprice1 qtyprice2 qtyprice3 qtyprice4 qtyprice5 Pro-Feature: Inline load and show product data [romancart action="loadData" datatype="price" itemcode="itemcode"] Valid datatype values are: price stock modstock - for product with modifiers - use rddcode instead of itemcode availability modavailability - for product with modifiers - use rddcode instead of itemcode notavailablemsg qtyprice1 qtyprice2 qtyprice3 qtyprice4 qtyprice5 Please note: We're aware none of this is Rocket Science. We made this plugin because we were helping someone with no HTML experience who was struggling with integrating Wordpress and Romancart and wasn't interested in learning HTML. Initially we gave them snippets of HTML to just paste in, but the wordpress WYSIWYG editor often reformatted the HTML moving things around and breaking it - especially with the Add to basket buttons which are within HTML form tags. Anyway - we got it all working relatively quickly, but it took much much longer to finish it to a high standard as a commercially viable product and release it to the public. The requests for donations on the Free version and modest pricing of the Pro version reflect the time spent polishing testing and releasing this version and will hopefully help to fund the new features we'd like to add. |

Many thanks for posting this.
One of the problems with using Romancart on a static HTML website is that as you add pages with new products, cross links etc, the whole thing can get a bit unwieldy. Wordpress is a superb content management system, free and open source, with loads of 'plug-ins' that extend its use, and potentially excellent performance in terms of search engine optimisation. Web sites can be rolled out quickly and content is easily managed by non-designers. I have a couple of Worpress sites that are Romancart enabled, but adding and managing Romancart products is still seen as a bit 'geeky', so this plugin should be really useful. I'm looking forward to using it! |

@JohnPye, I think you made a really good point there.
Wordpress sites with pages or posts that naturally relate to 1 'thing' you could add to a basket, do suit this way of working. Particularly if you don't do a lot of refering to earlier posts. Producing a good looking, easy to navigate "ecommerce" website with a handful of products is easy with WordPress, RomanCart and this plug-in. In fact I'd argue you get a better result than using any of the standard ecommerce systems as you can tailor each page specifically to the product and really work the layout and copy to sell well and to rank well in search engines. It particularly suits the approach where you go into depth with the description and detail of a product, as opposed to most ecommerce systems where you're encouraged to have a very simple cookie-cutter paragraph or two of product information (which is identical to every other online shop's). However, as you say, as the product range increases, the task of maintaining all of the interlinks between pages starts to become exponentially difficult. At that stage it's definitely worth transitioning to a full-on ecommerce website engine. |
