Hi,

When you use PayPal Express checkout, the PayPal express checkout pages now show the details of what the customer is purchasing.

If you are using PayPal standard, you should seriously consider switching to PayPal express checkout.
Most other carts don't actually support PayPal standard any more as Express Checkout is so much better.

This is essentially because with Express Checkout the customer logs onto PayPal and the cart gets their details from there, rather than them having to enter it onto RomanCart.

It also takes payment at pays it to paypal@romancart.com instead of us!!

I've been using PayPal Express checkout for about 5 years and I've not noticed any changes today, payments are appearing on my PayPal account as usual, is this problem only affecting Annie?

URGENT ! We have been using paypal express for several years, not many problems until today, 2 orders generated no money in our paypal account, one of these orders is for urgent despatch so can someone confirm where this money is please and when we are likely to receive it so we can despatch as requested by our customer. The order reference numbers concerned are RC15065517 & RC15065600.
An urgent response would be appreciated.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the info. This has now been fixed and has affected an incredibly small amount of merchants so you may not have been affected.

Anyone who has been affected will see a refunded message in the sales manager next to the pay status indicating there has been an issue and to contact us if they have any concerns. The customers will be refunded and they will see this in their paypal account shortly, they should of already received a message telling them their order has been refunded. However this does mean any merchant who had this issue will need to contact the customers affected and ask them to re-order.

Sorry for the obvious inconvenience to any merchant who experienced this issue and if anyone has any concerns then feel free to contact us.

It would have been better had you transferred the funds to the affected merchant than refunding the buyer.

One of our customers that was affected paid for next day delivery but now has to pay again. He hasn't answered our e-mails and will be oblivious to the fact there was a problem.

We have sent paypal requests and emails to those effected, one has responded the other hasn't, potentially a lost order :(

Hi,

The issue from earlier today has now been resolved and the new integration to Express checkout has been applied.
The items the customer are purchasing are now visible on the payment pages.
There are a number of different types of screen the customer may be presented with on PayPal. The older pages show the items on the left, whilst the newer pages show a drop cart style basket at the top right.
Which one your customers see depends on whether PayPal has selected your account to use the new pages. (We do not have control over this).

Please let us know if you get any further problems with this - we will sort them out immediately.

I still use paypal standard and don't want to change as I've noticed every time there is a problem with checkout its always with the fancy paypal options. In the 7 years plus that I've used paypal standard I've never had one issue, whereas people seem to be forever having problems and issues with the more advanced paypal options. So sorry, won't be swapping over to what is "touted" as better as what I have works fine.
