In Product Manager configuration I have selected to Use stock control and prevent products being sold if out of stock but the cart allows customers to buy products that are out of stock.

Stock control isn't working either and the cart doesn't reduce the number of products when a purchase is made. Also the sales show through in sales manager but nothing is displayed on the dashboard reports.

Have I done something obvious wrong which would fix all this or has anybody else had the same issues?

Did you also tick the box:
Only allow customers to purchase products which are listed in the product manager.
Stock control works perfect for us.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Yep that's ticked too.

I managed to get it to work my unticking an entire product line but it doesn't work for the modifiers. Are you using modifiers?

We have t-shirts in 4 sizes and small and medium are sold out but still going through the cart.

Any other tips?

Hi,
Sorry no, we have modifiers on a couple of products and they work ok.
Maybe a problem for Support.

Am I being really think here? Presumably one would want to allocate the amount of stock available for each modifier as if. In other words if you have red shirts, blue shirts and yellow shirts, you want to know how many of each are in stock and you don't want customers to be told the shirt is in stock if in fact only the yellow is in stock and they want ther red one. Where I might be being dim is that I cannot even find where you tell RomanCart how many of each you have. I have a number of products with multiple options (some 5 or 6) and I am having to use a time wasting spreadsheet manually because this facility does not seem to be there. This seems a very half baked stock control system as a result. The new control panel appears to be the same. It makes re-ordering from suppliers impossible if one wants only to use RomanCart Stock control.

Can support please clarify this issue and if, at present, it does not support precise control of options where modifiers are present, can they advise whether they are going to modify this and if so when.

Hi Stuart

It's not very intuitive but once you've set up your modifiers there's a small plus sign next to each produce. If you click on that rather than highlighting the whole thing it drops down to allow you to enter the quantities for each. Pointless excercise though if it can't deduct them when they are purchased which it isn't for me.

I watched the video but it's quite out of date so the menu options aren't exactly the same but what's odd is that the fact it's explains about stock control suggests that the functionality has been avaialable for some time.

Thanks Gill,

I've been using RomanCart for over 2 years and never knew you could click on the + sign to open that up!!!!! I just thought it indicated there were modifiers.

The funny thing though, is that mine is now working as I just test bought one of the options and it has reduced the overall quantity by 1 and if I click the little plus sign it has also done so to the correct option. I wonder why yours is different?

I have the following settings:

In configure:

Only allow customers to purchase products which are listed in the product manager. CHECKED

Same screen: Stock Control:

Use stock control but allow products to be sold when out of stock.

and on the main product page:

"Available" is checked

In the modifier group:

Is Stock Controlled? = checked

Under the little plus click:

The amount of stock shown and "Available" Checked

However, on subseqently deleting the order it does not reinstate the correct quantity so you have to do in manually.

I wonder how many other mysterious secrets there are!

Stuart

By the way, one further issue is that if overall stock of all options is less than zero" it shows zero instead of a minus figure.
