Hi There

We sell face to face courses where we would like to display the date for each course e.g. June July August (drop down list) and the amount of places left on that course when the date is selected

I want to set these up as a product (not the booking system) with the dates seen as the variation (we only have 3-4 dates shown at a time per course)

I can't seem to get modifiers to work to show availability and after searching the forumI believe they are being phased out is this correct?

If so what would you suggest to fulfill the above criteria

Hope you can help

Jay

Hi Jay,

Modifiers themselves aren't being phased out however it is no longer possible to use stock control with modifiers and thus you wont be able to show availability for modifier options.

You should instead look at using product groups, with product groups each variation is considered a separate product in itself and so each variation can have different stock levels...

https://admin.romancart.com/v111/info/screencast.asp?topic=productgroups&crx=&scmenu=true

Modifiers should only be used with a product that the customer can 'modify' so an example would be selling a blank t-shirt with the option to have a logo printed on it.

Hope this helps, have a go with product groups and let us know if this works for you.

Thanks

James

Sorted Wonderful thank you :)

test item

One last thing when clicking "add to basket" and taken to purchase is it possible to pass the date (the variation) onto the cart page as well? Currently showing the course only and not the course date they have purchased

thank you

J

Hi Jay,

You should enter the date in the itemname, so each item in the group should be named something like this...

Training Course - 13th March
Training Course - 4th May
Training Course - 23rd July

Thanks

James
