Hi,
I am trying to implement 3D secure, but for use with Maestro Only. Despite the fact on my application to Cardinal I only selected the Maestro Option, it/RC seem to have implemented this for all transactions. We attract very few fraud attempts and the implementation of these extra security systems will only increase the number of abandoned carts and phone calls. Is this a Cardinel or RC issue? Cheers, Paul |

Hi
I discovered yesterday I had exactly the same problem. Like you I selected maestro only but when doing a test transaction found it also was doing 3d for mastercard. I emailed Cardinal and just got this reply this morning: "Roman Cart has integrated 3-D Secure for all Visa, MasterCard and Maestro transactions. Once you go live with 3-D Secure it will be for all of your transactions." It would therefore suggest that it is something that RC has done. This really concerns me as we only want to do maestro. |

Support,
Due to the noticeable rise in cart abandonment during a two week trial of the 3-D Secure system I conducted in November I would also like to just introduce 3-D Secure for Maestro so could you please change the PayPal Pro integration to make enable this? Thanks in advance Nick G. Edited by Silent_Explorer - 15 January 2010 at 10:42am |

Hi,
If you enable 3dsecure it is enabled for all transactions. It is not possible to only enable it for Maestro cards. To do this we would need to have the customers select the card type they are using, this would be a problem in itself as if they selected the wrong one would cause a decline. Many Thanks Support |

Hi,
"It is not possible" That's a brave statement! It is perfectly possible and preferable to have two buttons, one for Maestro and one for Mastercard/Visa. Yes customers will sometimes get it wrong and they should get a meaningful error message. It is probably fairer to say it is possible, but RC have decicided that the amount of development time required to implement this is not worth it. I do understand this, as PayPal will probably force 3D-Secure for both Visa/Mastercard in August anyway. Cheers, Paul |

Well if that is the case then I would really support the customer picking the card type and would like you to implement this. Afterall 3D has only been implemented for maestro so it seems wrong to make all card users go through the 3d process.
When I buy something I know what card I am using so am pretty confident my customers will select the right one, especially if you just have a selection of radio buttons, or maybe even just 2 buttons, one for maestro and one for all others. Thanks |

Support - please tell me this is a wind-up.
All along, just Maestro has been cited as the card that would require implementation of 3D secure. Certainly, PayPal are the merchants, it's their issue, but surely it must have occurred to someone at RC/Cardinal that blanket implementation for PayPal users may cause a teeny problem? I assume that RC/Cardinal have actually communicated with each other? See Silent-Explorer's post re. cart abandonment - three guesses what customers will do between now and the point where they have to be enrolled for all of ther cards. Richard. |

Hi,
The work is 'Implementation of 3dsecure' it was not implemented to be card specific. I'm not sure if this means that this will be required against all card types anyway. We will speak to PayPal and find out. Many Thanks Support |

Hi Support,
Cardinal say "Roman Cart has integrated 3-D Secure for all Visa, MasterCard and Maestro transactions. By turning the programs on they will run for all transactions. Unfortunately there is not a switch to only have Maestro go through 3-D Secure, Roman Cart did not build that functionality." Cheers, Paul |
