Hi,

As per our previous post, the cart tries to work out where it has been called from.
If it goes to the 'continue shopping URL' then it means that it cannot work this out.
This means that either your Browser, Network or ISP is blocking this information being sent to RomanCart. We wouldn't be able to say exactly which one of these is the issue, and it isn't really relevant as it is specific to your own machine. If this behaviour has changed - then something has changed. It may be a browser update, a firewall change - or something completely out of your control at your ISP/network.

You need to provide returnurl's to make the cart reliably return to where it was called from (the return url).
This has always been the case with RomanCart.

Note that you don't have to use the product manager - you can simply post the returnurl with your add to basket buttons or links.

Try it and you will see it working (empty your basket first).

Many Thanks

Hi Support - have done this as a trial on one of our links:

<a href="http://www.romancart.com/cart.asp?storeid=43753&itemname=Victorinox Swiss Army%20000278&price=31.00&quantity=1&returnurl=https://www.reflections-of-infinity.co.uk/straps2.html"><img src="images/addtocart.gif" border="0" height="24" width="75"/></a></p>

Unfortunately the continue shopping button still takes me back to the home page! If my html is incorrect please advise.

Regards,

Colin

I think support could be referring to the spaces between 'Victorinox Swiss Army' which can be filled in as Victorinox%20Swiss%20Army.

Support we have just had an email from a customer saying

Good Afternoon
Your website keeps throwing me out when I try to continue shopping to add the lead. I would like to order the following please and have it sent to the address below.

I have tested the items the customer wants to buy and the continue shopping link seems to work fine for us however the customer must have had the problem as they are now ordering with us via email, so I will have to add everything to the cart for them. We have not changed any of our Roman cart settings.
Maybe something you have changed recently is causing a problem?
This customer wants the goods so has bothered to order by email, if there is a problem others may just give up resulting in lost sales.

Hi,
The cart will return the customer to the return url for the item.
Make sure it is set up correctly for the item they had the problem with.

If you do not have the return url it may work for you but not for all your customers.

Many Thanks

I have embedded the relevant return addresses into everything single button on my site. I have also corrected the long-standing error of having spaces and not %20 between words. And despite all of this, the the return URL coding works only spasmodically. If an end-user goes to more than one page on our site - irregardless of which page a buy button is pushed - the RC system opts to return the end-user to the catch-all page and not the page where the buy button was used.

Hi,
Pease can you post exact instructions of how to reproduce this and we will be able to advise.
The location and URL of item 1, the location and URL of item 2.
The URL it goes to on Continue Shopping.
The URL you are expecting it to go to on Continue Shopping.
Please either post this info here or email it to our support email address.

Many Thanks

Support
re our issue I have asked the customer to give more info which I expect a slight delay on receiving as they are in Australia (will update you).
Our settings as I said had not been changed, URLS correct, I have just reset the roman cart Automatic Continue Shopping URL to off and added our products page URL as the return page rather than have the Roman cart detect the page to return to. So our problem is sort of solved but this as with many other Roman Cart functions seems to need a customer work around to get a functioning cart. Why is it that Roman Cart Support always make out that it is their customers doing something wrong, or ask for us to reproduce the fault for you like you don`t believe what we are saying.
