I have just upgraded my computer and had to reload dreamweaver. Now I remember changing something in the settings so my code from Romancart didn't go mad and add extra characters ie the number 2 in loads of places which made the cart fail. However, I can't for the life of me remember what I did. Anyone else know please. I'm running Dreamweaver CS3.

I am using DreamWeaver CS3 and have not tweaked anything like you said that you did before. Any code that I copy from RomanCart, I can paste straight into the code page of DW. Obviously, I need to tweak the code for my own website.

Hi Jane,
I don't know about CS3, in Dreamweaver 4 it's 'Edit / preferences / general' and take the tick out of the box for 'Rename form items when pasting'. Hope this helps, |

Thanks that was a major help Dave. Got me looking in the right direction. In Dreamweaver CS3 its under Edit/Preferences/Code Rewriting.
Started with the general option and worked down till I found it. All good now I hope. No taking the little number 2s out anymore yipee. Thanks so much.

PS - genealogy guy - do you not get extra characters appear when you copy and paste code from Romancart product manager to your web page? This is why I wanted to find this option again as it means you don't have to edit the code at all.

If you copy and paste into the source code then it is OK. It is only when you copy and paste from design view that you get corruption

I often do paste in design view as I find it easier to see what, where when etc. Its great when a simple tick can be removed and cure all as its so frustrating trying to find all the little extra bits.
Still happy Dave

Not a good idea. Most programs will corrupt when pasted into design view. Put the screen on split screen. Then highlight the place in design view. You will see it highlight also in code view. Then paste in the code view and it will be OK. Otherwise you will continue to get small corruptions even with other programs.
