I am researching setting up an on-line direct to bank payment routine. What I want to offer is the ability for customers to transfer their payment direct - rather than through PayPal or WorldPay etc. The routine I am wanting has to be capable of taking in the customers details on-line and automatically transmit the funds to our bank account. Our site is https etc.

Hi

I do not use Roman Cart I use my own cart solution and the way I do it is to provide my bank details on a proforma invoice, with a reference Number for customer to use to identify the transaction in my bank account.

Unfortunately it's not just the need for a https website, there is the issue of where the data is stored and how secure it is etc, a registration with the Data Commissioner will be the absolute minimum requirement.

You would also perhaps need to investigate the PCI DSS standards to see if these would apply, I had to conform to these standards at the very lowest level in order that I could take customer credit card details over the phone to enter into a virtual terminal.

That's the reason I do it the way I set out above as I do not want the responsibility of keeping other peoples data secure, and if the PCI DSS standards are relevant depending on the level of compliance required they can be very demanding to comply with.

Thank you for the viewpoint - but RC already offers that type of option. I am looking for a seamless transmission system so that the customers can send the money off the page straight into my bank account. The Paym service might be one way forward.

Hi

Arr did not know RC offered that,

I would be interested if you find a solution, I can't see a way atm as when I do my own bank transfers I have to log in to my bank account and set up a payee before I can make a payment to the payee.

Pingit (Barclays) and Paym embed all the bank details into a mobile phone number so all the payee does is click to pay the recipients mobile number. That is the way forward as all you are doing is a simple interbank transfer.

I don't think you'll get a seamless payment due to security issues. People will have to log on to their account separately. I just provide our banking details on the last page of the checkout for bank transfer where it says print for an invoice. I just give account, sort code and say to note before leaving the page.

Our site is https throughout - every page - and Barclays are working on offering a website payment option for Pingit which is part of Paym. This means that providing RC integrate the Pingit API as another payment option, the customer can pay direct without us having to pay any fees whatsoever. I for one am fed up in paying fees to middlemen who think our money is their money and charge exorbitant fees for merely handling it.
