Hi,
Just wondered what your thoughts were on Nochex Merchant account.
Are there any problems or dislikes about the system.
What are their fees?, I know it is based on turnover and its %+20p
What is their starting fees, is it about 3%+20p
Appreciate any feedback.
Mike

There is a £50.00 set up fee and thats it (well when I signed up it was). Their fees for transactions are lower than some others. Can't remember the exact amount, but were lower than paypal.

They also require you to keep a specified amount in your account for call backs. Mine is just short of £200.00. They vary it depending on the merchant and how much business you think will go through. I started with a lowish amount to see how it went and never had to raise it.

Having said that when I first signed up I had a lot of failed payments and was thinking of ditching them. However, that seems to have righted itself and not had any fails for ages. Probably put the kiss of death on it now ha ha. It seems to me that Nochex needs everything to be absolutely exact down to the last full stop otherwise it fails. It maybe that my clients have got better at using it too.

Overall though if you want a cheap way of taking credit cards, alternative to paypal I'd say its pretty okay although with anything there are things you like and don't like.

Ops just remembered too - you also don't need any of the added "internet merchant account" and then the payment gateway" its all done ie all in sorted.

I am probably going to change in the future as it will not meet my future needs, but I will do this now when I have to upgrade my cart to meet future plans.

Upshot overall okay and relatively cheap to use.

Just remembered something else. Its not hugely important - you have to have Nochex Merchant Account on your home page. However, I did this by putting it in ultra small type face centre bottom of main page and they accepted that. They check that you have it there so it can't be removed later if you feel like it. Its not a huge big deal though.
