The shipping on my products has always been calculated by weight which works fine, however I now want to add some new products but give them a set shipping price per item.

Is there any way I can do this?

Hi,
You cannot do this, you would need to give the products a weight value for the weight based shipping method.
Many Thanks

Hi Sowseeds,

As a thought, although you have to give items a set shipping price by weight, you could do soemthing a bit clever by using notional weights outside the normal range.

For example, if the largest order you're ever likely to send is (say) 20 kilos, set up each new product as 50 kilos. Then set up your shipping rates for 50 to (say) 500 kilos with each increment increasing by your standard shipping price per item.

So (assuming, let's say, that your standard shipping price for the new items is £2.50) it might look something like;

0-20000 .... normal prices
20001-50000 - £2.50
50001-100000 - £5.00
100001-150000 - £7.50
etc

I think that might work for you - it's worth having a play !

Oops, as a thought, that only works if customers don't end up combining fixed-rate and normal items.

If they're going to do that, your best bet might be to give them zero weight and build the fixed shipping cost into the price. That has the other advantage that you could splurge "FREE SHIPPING ON THIS PRODUCT !" all over them
