Bank transfer - has anyone cracked it?

I do not use Roman Cart I use my own cart solution and the way I do it is to provide my bank details on a proforma invoice, with a reference Number for customer to use to identify the transaction in my bank account.

Unfortunately it's not just the need for a https website, there is the issue of where the data is stored and how secure it is etc, a registration with the Data Commissioner will be the absolute minimum requirement.

You would also perhaps need to investigate the PCI DSS standards to see if these would apply, I had to conform to these standards at the very lowest level in order that I could take customer credit card details over the phone to enter into a virtual terminal.

That's the reason I do it the way I set out above as I do not want the responsibility of keeping other peoples data secure, and if the PCI DSS standards are relevant depending on the level of compliance required they can be very demanding to comply with.

I would be interested if you find a solution, I can't see a way atm as when I do my own bank transfers I have to log in to my bank account and set up a payee before I can make a payment to the payee.

I don't think you'll get a seamless payment due to security issues. People will have to log on to their account separately. I just provide our banking details on the last page of the checkout for bank transfer where it says print for an invoice. I just give account, sort code and say to note before leaving the page.
