Could you make shared modifier once added to a product editable?

Hi,

Yes you can, click on the 'shared modifiers' link in the product manager and you will be able to change the modifier values. This will be reflected on the products.

However, as has always been the case with modifiers, if you chnage any values then you will need to replace the button/link code on your website as the code will change as well.

Thanks

James

Hi James
That is not what I am after as that changes the shared modifier across all products that share it. What I need is to be able to use a shared modifier for a set of collars say 1 1/2" wide which share a lot of modifier values i.e. colour, size, backing etc. however once added to them all I then need to be able to edit one modifier value on each collar slightly as each collar has a slight choice change for stud decoration. So once you click to use a shared modifier for a product I need it to add those shared values to the modifier editable list for that product that we have at the moment so that I can edit just slightly per product.

Hi,

You would need to use individual modifiers for this. Shared modifiers are to be used on products that always share the same values.

Thanks

James

Hi James
That is what we do at the moment however we are changing product options and need to add another colour to our range which is on every single product, also new head studs again on most of our products which means additions to every single product one by one via the individual modifiers. I was hoping to find a way of using the shared modifier to make this quicker to do. Shared Modifiers - again a new feature that is of no use to us, you seem to be developing everything to fit into the new storefront system not helping to improve the old system, we have found that additions made make the old system harder to work with as I am now afraid to copy an individual modifier as the copy tends to scramble the content since your introduction of product order. We are at a stage of redoing our website and need to alter all products, to do so via the existing system will be very slow to do, we as rainshoe are thinking it may be time to try another cart as we are unable to use any of your recent additions to the cart, not even the new cart page templates as they are still not editable.
