Hi All,
Can anyone please advise whether or not the commission deducted for each transaction by PayPal includes UK VAT as I need to make sure I enter this in the correct place on my accounts Thanks in advance Nick G. |

Hi Nick,
The only safe answer is to ask Paypal. We've always assumed that we're not paying any VAT on Paypal commision, therefore there is nothing we can claim back on our VAT return. None of the information we've ever had from Paypal includes any reference to VAT, UK or otherwise. Not a definitive answer I know, I'd be interested if anyone can demonstrate otherwise though. |

Hi Dave,
Many thanks, I didn't think PayPal charged VAT on commission either but I just wanted to make sure Regards Nick G. |

As far as I am aware, they are just like bank charges and should be treated the same way through your accounts.
Bank charges are exempt from vat and go as T9 on your vat return through sage? |

Hi Nick
We treat our Paypal charges the same as our Bank charges, which are exempt from vat. We were told to enter them as T9 through sage which is what we do. Rosemarie |

I do that, treat Paypal charges as bank charges.
