Can you please look into being able to set items via the product manager to include or exclude stock control rather than a cart wide on or off for the stock control system, so that we can select certain products to stock control and others not to.

We, and other members, have asked for this a few times in the recent past. Nothing's been forthcoming though, unfortunately.

Yes me too.

Some items we wont restock and so dont want orders when the last one is sold. Others we will restock so want orders. The main issues for us though is running promotions. Its hard to predict the take up of promotions. Wth a global setting turned on, orders will be lost if we sell out before being able to restock - ie not everyone will go back to the website to order.

We're in the same position as Rich; we have items on clearance with only a limited number available, so don't want customers to order more than there is. In our normal stock, though, we have a constant turnover, so it's no problem for customers to order more than we have in stock at that particular time.
Also, it's most inconvenient for customers, and annoying for us when one orders more than is available of a particular clearance or end-of-range item; we then have to inform them we cannot supply the whole amount, then issue a refund for the difference.
I'm sure this wouldn't be a hugely difficult task for Support to implement; a checkbox in the PM as to whether a particular item is stock controlled or not would be ideal.

Please Support Is there any chance of this? as Graham says
"I'm sure this wouldn't be a hugely difficult task for Support to implement; a checkbox in the PM as to whether a particular item is stock controlled or not would be ideal." you already have this for the modifier section of the products so it should be easy enough to add it to the main product section also.

Any chance of this being implemented, please, Support? As you can see, it is a very popular request.

Support, you've completed the Control Panel and the iphone app, is there any chance you can work on this, please? There's lots of us merchants who could really do with this feature.

Thanks,

Hi Support

Can you please let us know if you are going to implement this, or if it is a non-starter.
On the face of it is looks like a simple feature to implement and one that will enhance your cart.

Thanks
Rich

Hi,

This is actualyl being worked on as we speak, however this is more complicated when it comes to coding than it appears on the surface.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience.

Support, are you going to introduce this feature? We were promised it was under development ten weeks ago, but nothing's become of it.

Thanks,

Hi,
We're not actually sure how to implement it.
There is currently a global stock control setting as you know.
We could add a tick box on each product which defaults to the global setting which could be unticked to prevent stock control on that product?
Is this what you would be expecting?
Many Thanks
Support

Yes, or the other way round, maybe a tickbox to opt-in for stock control on that particular product (I personally would prefer that method); either way would work Please could you do this for us and many other members, Support, it is a popular request as you can see from previous posts. We would be very grateful indeed, it's a function we really need.
Many thanks,

I'll add my voice to this feature too. I'm trying to create a drop down modifier with one item that needs stock control with a 'Yes' label and on which has a 'No' label that doesn't obviously. I have to put a No modifier in so the link resolves to the cart, so it would be really handy.

Sorry to harp on about this, Support, but is this feature being developed? If so, when can we expect to see it implemented, please?

Thanks,

I've been asking for this feature for ages as you know, but nothing seems to be happening. I've tried working round it by making each applicable item a modifier in it's own right, then applying stock control. Trouble is, it doesn't seem to work. Even though I've got the main configuration as 'Do not use stock control' and the modifier for these products checked as stock controlled, I can still add more to the basket than the stock available. Am I doing something wrong? Can Support or anyone else help please?
Many thanks,

Hi Graham
I think support sometimes just reply with an answer that we want ie. the quote from them that this was something they were working on in order to stop us asking and with the hope that we will forget all about it, then nothing gets done and we go round in circles again with someone else asking for the same thing.
I think they should sort out the functions that exist already that need work done rather than working on new features and I am sure other users feel the same.
Any news on this one please Support?

Hi, Red,
I feel I have to agree with you on all the points you've made; it's most frustrating when we ask for something we and others really need, and then other things get developed without any requests (who asked for an iPhone app?). What I am a bit cheesed off about is that we were told three months ago that this was actually being worked on, but it seems now that that was just not the case.

Hi,

It was worked on, and the initial investigation showed that it is a very high risk addition, which will affect every single transaction on the cart and every 'add to basket' click.
We would rather hold back on adding features, than hastily add them risking normal cart function.

We do still plan on adding this though, however there are some things we need to do first which is why it has not happened yet.

Many Thanks
Support

Well at least we know the score now; in that case, Support, could you help me with my post from yesterday asking if there's a temporary workaround by creating single-product modifier, please? You'll see my post a couple of entries up on this page.
Thanks,

Hi,
That won't work unfortunately as if the main configuration says 'don't use stock control' then it won't be used.
Kind Regards,
Support

Support
regarding your last post -

By being told over 3 months ago that this was being worked on anyone that had read that post would think it would be something that was being done, with no Updates from you we are bound to keep asking.
Is there any chance of you providing more updates on a regular basis regarding items that are being developed so at least we all know where we stand?
