Hi,
From today you will notice new icons appearing next to your customers names on the sales manager.
= This icon represents a new customer
= This icon represents a returning customer who has completed less than 10 previous orders
= This icon represents a customer who has completed 10 or more orders or who has ordered more than £1000 (or whichever currency you have configured with RomanCart) worth of stock from your store in the past
Please feel free to ask any questions about this new feature here.
Kind Regards
RomanCart

Hmmm....
Sorry, can't agree here. It seems like tarting up the sales manager whilst many other requests which can help control the product manager or get business useful data out of the reports are not getting any attention.
It also doesn't seem to work properly.
RC9240527 at 15:27 on 18th - Not completed order by a 1st time customer but it shows icon for a repeat customer.
RC9240550 at 15:30 on the 18th - Completed order for the same customer but it shows the icon for a 1st time customer.
Customer has used the same email address for both orders.
Also, Firefox users don't get to see the alt statement which is where the explanation of the meaning of each code is placed.

I agree with Dave that the alt statement doesn't show on Firefox (or Opera nor Chrome). This is why we use 'title' instead of 'alt' for our images; it's compatible with all browsers.

Support,
What about the fault I reported on this new feature?
Also, what about the 'Alt' issue? RC has never been fully integrated with Firefox, something which you said you'd look into a long time ago.

Hi,
The alt issue with firefox is now fixed.
The two orders you mention are because one of them is not completed. We probably need to have a different icon if the order is not completed or perhaps not show an icon at all.
Many Thanks

Hi Support,
Thanks for fixing the ALT.
The other issue happens every time a new customer completes an order at the second attempt. As you say, not having an icon would be best in this case, although if someone tries to buy but fails and doesn't try again, the icon next to their failed attempt might be useful so it would be good if it could work properly in these cases.

New Icons in Sales Manager - Today I notice 3 new icons in the top of sales manager - for future update of online sales, phone sales and mail order. This sounds a great feature but it has made the collumns in Sales Manager too wide now and I have to constantly scroll accross the screen to tick any select buttons to change statuses - time wasting and anoing. Can this be put somewhere else so we can read the whole width of the manager without having to zoom the screen to 75% which makes it difficult to read on a laptop. - The impact of the easy everyday usablity by a laptop user has dramatically reduced by this change - please test the manager on different size screens before you decide to implement any changes.

Hi Support My store ID is 12878 Thanks for your swift attention - I can see most colums on the screen now but can't see the check boxes on the far right when I have the order number showing on the left column. I have alredy minimised quite a few columns which I don't usually need to see and only have columns showing that are essential to fulfilling our orders. Can you maybe make the icons a little smaller in width? this would probably do the trick unless you decide to add another feature!

Hi, What is your screen resolution? Many Thanks Support

Hi Support,
I also have problems with the increasing page view width on the Sales Manager screen and have to hide unused columns in a attempt to get the essential info on the screen without scrolling let to right
Can I make the following suggestions that may help conserve valuable space on the screen?
1/ reduce the font size of the columns headings slightly 2/ change te date/time format from '30 Nov 2011 23:55:48' to 30/11/11 23:55:48 to conserve the column width. 2/ abbreviate the column heading 'Total Value' to 'Value', to reduce the column width. 3/ likewise, abbreviate the column heading 'Despch' to 'Desp' 4/ In the invoice 'view' column abbreviate the word 'invoice' to 'inv', as this may also help reduce the column width slightly
Thanks in advance
Nick G.

Hi, What screen resolution are you using? Many Thanks Support

1280 by 800 True Colour - on a dell inspiron laptop. We also have two more older computers with screen resolutions not as wide - 800 by 600 and the sales manager is worse on them, in fact we try not to use them any more to process any orders due to the lack of width on the screen. When we first signed up with RC we could see all collumns full width on the 800 by 600 screens.

Hi, This is because there are a lot more columns now - but as you are aware, you can hide the ones you don't want by clicking on the column names.
We will try it out on different resolutions today. Many Thanks Support

We already hide 12 of the columns that we don't need, but the ones we show (9 columns) are quite essential to our daily order processing. - Some merchants may even need more that us!

Hi, The icons we added shouldn't have made any difference. Can you confirm that you can see less on the screen now they have been added? Many Thanks Support

I don't think adding the new icons has made any difference, the growth in page width has occurred gradually over time and I'm sure the suggestions I put forward would help us squeeze more columns on the screen without the need to scroll left to right

I find it's the length of the persons name that makes the biggest difference as the width of the column expands to accomodate the name. This then moves all the other columns over. We have a lot of foreign customers who put their whole name including all the middle names. Can't do anything about this though.

Hi Support As you added extra coloums over time the page became wider. But Yesterday after you added the 3, then 4 extra icons the tick boxes went off the screen to the right and we have to constantly scroll ovar to tick the boxes then screll left to finf the order number. I have noticed that if we have a customer with a longer tahn average name in the 'customer 'column this will widen the screen even further. Maybe you could limit the width of that column to show less of the full name?

Hi Could we not just view the surname only? Also Nick has come up with some good points, one that glares out to me is "Payment Type", not too sure this even needs a heading as it is a tad obvious but shortening to "Payment" would help.
Cheers Nobby

Good point Nobby, I missed that one, abbreviating "Payment Type" to "Payment" or "Pay Type" would conserve a few more millimeters of page width!
'Every little helps' as they say at Tesco's

really good sugesstions on reducing the size of the screen that is one thing that I find a bit anoying. Why can't the screen view be made as a tickbox opion under configuration then you could tick on and display only the titles that you want. I have to hide 10 columns at the moment and am constantly scrolling left and right which is a bit of a pain when I want to update a whole group of orders. at the moment when a title is not used you still get a little arrow thing in its place. without them it would be better and using the suggestions to reduce the words would help heaps !!
I love romancart but those improvements would be fantastic !!
a search option on postcode would also be ideal while I am at it :)

...adding in, if you can't drop the first name would it be possible to drop the title? I for one don't really need that in the display :)

... and we use the invoice link to print off the invoice, so as the name is always 'invoice' you could replace that with just an icon and a tool tip of 'view invoice'.

Hi Support I have just minimised ALL columns in the sales manager except for the order number and Select button columns and the select buttons now show on the screen with the order number. Howerver th 'GO' button does not show and I still have to scroll accross to change a status. If I add say 3 other columns, they automatically widen to stretch accross the page. But the 'GO' button is still out of the page. I suggest you make the page size smaller in width. If you can restrict it to a common width that the majority of merchants use and NOT a wide screen format - this might do the trick.

Another suggestion is to have the new icons in the white space at the top to the right of Romancart logo - this space would allow for a few more icons and merchants would spot them quite easily up there.

.. or why not just move the tick box column so that it is at the left-hand edge of the screen (as it is such an important field, surely it is best that is one of the first ones you see)???

Hi,
More than 2 years after it was 1st reported, the sales manager icons are still wrong. Normally I ignore it, at the moment it's annoying me, probably because we've had a few fails recently so I've been looking at them more closely.
Have a look at orders 14527739 and 14532388 for an example. He's a new customer.
1st attempt, order not complete however the icon shows repeat customer.
2nd attempt a day later, order completed however the icon shows 1st time customer.
It's a nice little feature, but useless if it never works
