Can't understand how it is supposed to work. Can drag an item by clicking on its picture, but there is no indication of where you are supposed to drop it? Have tried moving the pink tie all over the page with no possible drop zones.
Also the vertical scroll bar seems to be ignoring my requests to scroll the page down.

Hi,
I'm not sure what you mean by dragging an item.
Click on an 'add to basket' button.

Oooh I like that. Will it be able to be positioned where we more or less like? Will it only drop one way or will it be available to slide in from the side too? Also, does it work if you have the product manager set to go to the cart each time something is added as this kind of does away with the need to do that.   Would I have to go through 1500 products to alter the settings to not go to cart? I like the drop down though a lot. Will make a lot of my customers happy.

Hi,
The drop down cart is designed to be as is, however it is made possible by our new customization changes.
You or a web designer skilled in css/javascript will be able to design a cart to be whatever you like.

Apologies for my earlier post in which I said that I could not get it to work. I was assuming (wrongly) that this was a drag-and-drop cart feature, and trying to drag the item's picture onto a cart icon. Now I realise that "drop" means that the cart drops down to show its contents....silly of me!

Hi Support -

Just to let you know that I'm seeing no checkout button in IE9.

I get the button (bottom right of the dropdown box) in both Chrome and Firefox.

Regards,

Richard.

Hi,
That's strange. It works fine for us on ie9 which I just retested to check.
I'm not sure why you might not see the checkout button. Please email us a screenshot of what it looks like for you and we will take a look.

Make sure you don't have compatibility view turned on with IE9. It seems to cause the Checkout button to disappear.

Indeed, you are spot on.

Compatibility view off, checkout button back on.

I think it would be desirable to make the dropcart work in compatibility view if possible. The existing cart works fine in compatibility view.

Wow, looks like a lot of work to me. Probably worth it though.

A couple of questions.

1. Do we have to alter the Product Manager from Display Cart Yes to No

2. If we have the same product displayed twice in different pages do we use the same Form number for both postiions

Hi,

The name of each form needs to start ROC_DD_
and each name must be different (on the same page).
It will ignore the display cart setting.

Further to my last post and your response. I think you need to check compatibility with Macs.

I used Safari this morning and was fine, but not working this afternoon. I have refreshed Safari and still opens basket up in new window.
Subsequently have tried in Firefox and Chrome, which had not visited the demo store before and they both open the basket in a new window.

Hi,
Apologies for pointing out the obvious - but we have an identical demo cart which uses the standard cart. Are you sure you are not looking at that one instead?

Make sure you are using

Yes, that's the one. And it doesn't open the new window in the standard basket format, but just includes what should be on the drop down, products, quantities, prices.

It's working again.

Support - can you make the the triangle that collapses the box a little more obvious that it is a clickable icon. Maybe a blue up arrow, that would then change to a blue down arrow (or at least an arrow instead of a triangle)

Also an additional improvement maybe that clicking anywhere within the whole box collapses it and then reclicking opens it again

It looks brilliant, but I have a quick question (probably a stupid one )

Is it possible to change the size and position of the drop-down.

Having said that, in theory you or your web designer could write your own drop cart however you wanted to - however you need to know javascript and css to do this.

Take a look at the .js file which you reference with the drop cart.
The actual content display of the drop cart will be customizable when we release this feature in the next week or so.

Hi
Great addition but I am getting a tad frustrated with IE8

All works fine in Safari, Chrome, Firefox but when I try it in IE8, either on a mac or PC, all I get is a large space a the top with the mini cart expanded and not working!
Oddly the RC demo site does work perfectly well so I'm guessing it's me!
A a total loss why this is so and it's probably obvious...have I omitted something for IE8 to work....confused!!
This is a link to the test page I'm working with:

Hi
Thanks for the reply.
I had a look at your demo site and it is:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

Mine by default is:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">

And for good measure I have tried adding:
<!DOCTYPE html>

Still no joy I'm afraid....any ideas?

Cheers

Hi
I only just added the second one just to see, makes no difference if it's there or not.
Taken it off now so only 1 doctype and still shows the same!

This has to be something obvious but damned if I can see it!

Nobby, have you done anything to your test page as I checked it earlier and it was faulty but now it seems OK. I am asking this as I am getting the same fault that you had, when you add something to the basket it goes to a full page instead of the drop down cart. Mine is faulty in all browsers.

Hi,

If you cannot get the drop down cart to work it means that something on your page is conflicting with it.

Make a copy of your page and keep removing bits of the page until you find the bit causing the problem.

I am trying the drop cart and noticed the following;
When you first enter the website, the drop down section asks you to confirm your country (well at least mine does as I want to make sure they are buying on the correct website). This region page is not configured to the drop down window measurements. Also the OK button is stuck behind the Checkout button due to the page not in the correct dimensions.

Keith,

The problem with your test page is your body onload events which looks like is preloading images.
This makes it take about 5 seconds for your page to load. If you try and add something to the basket before this then it loads in a full screen.

To use the drop cart you would need to remove your onload events.

However much more importantly Google might be penalizing you for this as it takes page load times into account.

Your page actually looks like it loads fast but it is still doing things in the background which is why this is a problem as (browser dependand) it won't look at things like the cart until your page is fully loaded.

The region page is now gone. So the cart automatically assumes someone is ordering from Australia, when in fact they may be ordering from USA. So this could be a potential issue.

Secondly, when you remove the item from the cart, the drop down cart leaves you with a blank open window. You are left hanging on thinking it will change to another screen. Shouldn't it say "you have nothing in your cart" or "the cart is empty", or the drop down screen should close.

Thirdly is there a way to put the remove product link in the drop down cart rather than having to change the quantity to zero to remove a product

Hi,
It will default to your default country as there is no region page with the drop cart.
I agree it would be good to make it say something when empty and to have a remove icon.
When we release our cart customization features you will be able to design it as you want.
Many Thanks

Considering that the Region Page is just one screen can you make this an option in the customisation. Or is there a possibility that the cart can default to the IP address.

Otherwise the cart is really only good for one country, which limits us. We have a different cart for each currency, which means we can get shoppers from Australia, USA, UK and ASIA all buying on the one cart. Routinely shoppers do not change the country once the shopping has begun.

I tried to set this up yesterday on a page and failed miserably. Will have to have another go. Got it to come in and drop down at the top, but all the writing was out of the box all off the screen to the right.

Hi Support.
Finally got it to work in IE8. The problem I had was the program I use to create the pages automatically fills in the doctype and is not editable, but I mucked about with the settings and got it to work in the end!

One other thing I have noticed. If you have the 'Use mobile enhanced cart for mobile devices.' ticked and use an iPhone, the box drops down when you click the buy button and says "Could not find </head> or </body> tag! It works fine when you don't use the mobile cart.
Will they ever be able to be used together?

Cheers
Nobby

Hi
I suppose for it to work with the mobile cart as well!
At the moment it will not add to the drop cart, it just loads the error message I quoted.
Please give give it a go by setting your test site use the mobile cart and try it on an iPhone, hopefully you will see the same thing......unless it's just me! :)

Thank you Support for your help and advice as I have now got it working perfectly now. Unfortunately it looks like I am unable to use it as when something is added to the basket it doesn't go to the location screen so customers don't choose their country by default. Great if it's the UK but we have many orders from Europe and worldwide. I don't use any regions. Any ideas?

Hi,
The drop down cart is a quick way to see what products are in the cart.
It does not show regions, promotions etc.

You might find that the advantage of being able to quickly see what is in the cart outweighs any problems caused by customers having to choose their location. It is certainly worth testing.

Ideally though you should consider having more than one cart (and website) - one for Dollars defaulting to the USA and one for Euro's defaulting to your most popular european country - or even one for each European country if you sell a lot to Europe.

I realise that this raises the cost, however the biggest factor in localization is the ability for a customer to see a website which is relevant to their own location. i.e. in France seeing a website written in French.

Many Thanks

Hi, we have the same issue when accessing the drop cart on iphone.

Clicking 'Add to cart' fills the drop cart area with a message:
"Could not find </head> or </body> tag - Cannot continue"
