    Posted: 15 February 2010 at 10:01am
Hi,

Over the last couple of months I have had a number of customers who are reporting that they are getting the following message when they try to complete their order and pay.

"You must enter a valid Email Address. Please check your email address. The 'confirm' email address does not match your actual email address."

These are valid email addresses (indeed they have emailed me from the same address they are using) so I'm at a loss as to why it's happening!

They have assured me they have tried multiples times, have not used copy and paste, that the text in the two field boxes match etc. etc.

In the end I am having to get them to use my own email address so that they can proceed with the order.

Can anyone here give an explanation?

Thank you.

Laura

Hi Laura
We get this occasionally and it is normally a space at the end of the address that causes it, .com especially as they hit the space and the m.
I have changed the pop up text in the translation to:
"Please check your e-mail address, there appears to be an invalid character entered. This could be just a space at the end of the address."

Seems to have cured it.

Regards

Thanks Nobby. I'm glad it's not just me that it's happened to.

Mind you I did test the problem myself by making a dummy order using the customer email (very carefully typing the address, no random spaces) and had exactly the same problem.

Very weird! The only consolation is that I think it is only happening every once in a while e.g. rarely... so hopefully not too big a problem.

Nobby,

Nice One!

I don't get this email error issue very often but I've just put your text in my translation as it makes good sense and may eliminate a problem.

Best Regards
