Jackslad thanks for the link.
We remade and sent out a replacement collar for a customer last week for one that had not been delivered (over a month in the post to Australia - airmail) which customer services said was not showing on their system and would be classed as lost, then the day after the replacement one was posted the first one turned up, a total loss to us of our time, materials for replacement and re postage fee as now unable to claim for any of that. Hermes sounds OK if it`s £4.20. up to 0.99 kgs, I will look into that one as we charge £4 or £4.50 for Royal Mail 1st and second class recorded so that is reasonable. Red |

For International packets I used "Signed For" in the past and also had constant trouble with failed and late deliveries. I always had to ask the customer to check at their local post delivery office to see if it was there awaiting collection (which it normally was).
Then I changed over to using "Air Sure" wherever I could and the difference was amazing. All the complaints for non delivery and late delivery vanished. I get very little trouble now that I use Air Sure. |

The £150 watch straps I sent to Australia which have gone astray were sent using Airsure. No record of it arriving in Australia despite RM saying they have tracking data to it going on a specific flight to Brisbane!

Doesn't it just make you weep. Rotten Mail just don't care. I think you are right Habygirl to log all the losses and contact the CEO and MP. I keep threatening the same, but so busy correcting the errors I can see I won't have time LOL. I like the idea of My Hermes at £4.20. I think we might be able to live with that one and will look into it also as lots of our parcels are under 1000 g.
I gave up claiming too from Rotten Mail as the effort wasn't worth the measly book of stamps you got in compensation. Very rarely got the proper cost back. The time and effort isn't worth it. I did send one book of stamps back and told them to "stick them where a monkey puts his nuts" as was so mad. I am sure they do it so that the complaints drop as people give up and they look squeaky clean. No perfect solution I'm sure, but there must be someone out there better surely, otherwise we are all in big trouble. Urghgh back to postal hell tomorrow again, never ending... |

Thanks for replies on International Signed For Airmail our problem turned out to be down to the owner of our local post office who had put 2 of our overseas packages through as Surface mail even though we use that post office almost every day and have never ever sent surface mail.
Both packages were clearly and correctly marked for the Airmail service and he had managed to put 3 other overseas packages sent on that day onto the system correctly as airmail. We now have to wait till Thursday as surface mail time limit for delivery is longer prior to making a claim however it is not looking good as no update on the system for either so far and both customers saying not delivered. You would not think that you would need to check everything the post office counter staff do when you use them on a regular basis, looks like both packages will turn out as lost. Red |

No airmail sticker = surface mail. It happens.
For more detailed RM tracking of all services, use the following address: http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails It looks like their regular track and trace page but it's the one the posties use :) |

Thanks rscass
I understand no airmail sticker would mean surface mail however when you have correctly labelled everything as we had it makes you very angry. All our overseas packages have the Airmail sticker and Royal Mail Signed For Sticker and just for good measure I even write Airmail on them in case the airmail sticker comes off so there should be no doubt how the package should go, it was our local post office owner that was behind the counter on the day that 2 of our packages went by surface by mistake entered onto the system as surface by him, we then receive a bulk posting print off and did not notice the mistake till both packages failed to be delivered. You should be able to trust that the post office counter staff know what they are doing. Red |

Hi Red,
I honestly wasn't trying to be smart. If the Airmail sticker peels off, it goes surface mail. I religiously pack my mail in the correct sacks with the correct identifier tags. I have it on good authority that the sorting office staff empty the lot out onto a big table and sort the stuff again. A bit of a farce really. Richard. |
