Is there any chance for the future that the tracking number can be added to dispatch notifications if entered?
We can send this info on PayPal but most of our customers seem to prefer our Barclays gateway these days. It would be great if we could enter it in the dispatch notes and it was sent with the e-mail. |

Hi Annie,
You can actually already do this. First go to 'tools > options > email' and scroll down to the section on despatch emails. You will the the sub header field for emails, in this field you can enter the <trackingref> tag so despatch emails will dynamically populate that tag with a tracking reference you enter. Now go to 'manage > sales' and select any order and click on the box in the despatch column, here is where you can enter the tracking code for that order. See this screencast for more info... https://admin.romancart.com/v111/info/screencast.asp?topic=despatch Thanks James |

Hi,
The recent Royal Mail server changes have stopped the original tracking script for working but the following script works OK: To track your package via the Royal Mail website <a href="http://track2.royalmail.com/portal/rm/track?trackNumber=<trackingref>">click here</a> We use the following link for goods despatched to the USA as the US parcel service website provides much better tracking than RM: Please note that your goods may be shipped by sea due to security restrictions on air freight into the USA and could take up to 4 weeks to arrive.<br> To track your package on-line <a href="http://usps.ems-tracking.net/usps-tracking.php?number=<trackingref>">click here</a> This script works for UPS: To track your UPS consignment <a href="http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/track?&trackNums=<trackingref>">click here</a> I hope this is of help Nick G. |

Bear in mind that if you are using Royal Mail recorded there is NO tracking until after the parcel has been received and signed for at the other end. And not everyone is honest. Many RM recorded deliveries are never processed correctly by RM personnel - SO if someone receiving a parcel fancied getting a second one for free - all they have to do is look at the RM website after they have received the parcel without signing and they have "proof" of non-delivery! So I never send tracking info unless asked for specifically. Many years ago I worked for company handling redemptions (prizes or tear-offs etc). So many people being sent goods would claim never have to received it and demanding a free replacement ...

We just use Royal Mail and interparcel at the moment, but that's great thanks. I've now go it working the way I like it after experimenting on a few unsuspecting customers!

We use RM Tracked services, so there is tracking before delivery. I recommend it as well as DMO (Dispatch Manager Online) over any other RM service we've used. It's even better than OBA. |

Hi Nick
We used to e-mail them with the Interparcel tracking link but half the time they would try to use it before the package had been collected. This resulted in a lot of phone calls saying the tracking link was faulty. I will use the html with a note on the end of it. Thanks! Annie |

Just a thought... how can you use the link so it only appears for interparcel?

This is an example of a typical script I would enter in the despatch box
Arrangements have been made for our courier<br> to collect your goods from our premises today<br> for delivery on Monday.<br> To track your package <a href="http://www.interparcel.com/tracking.php?action=dotrack&trackno=<trackingref>">click here</a><br> (tracking details should be available by 7pm this evening) I keep my tracking scripts as separate html pages saved on my PC and open the appropriate page each day and keep them open all day in browser tab and cut & paste the scripts as required. I've configured presets for my Royal Mail scripts in the despatch facility. Nick G. |
