Support,
I've just taken order RC9986176 from Norway and the problem is still the same: Address as displayed in RC: Kirkeveien 40 Trgstad 1860 Norway Unlike the order on Tueday which was via PayPal EC, the above order was a card payment via PayPal Pro so regretfully no address is displayed in PayPal, consequently I'm unable to verify the correct spelling. Hi,
I have run some tests just now and the problem is I cannot reproduce it. I tried Æ, Ø, and Å which are all Norweigan letters and it worked both with UTF-8 on and off. I did however manage to reproduce it if UTF-8 was off and the customer selected the 'remember me' option, then UTF-8 was switched on and the transaction was done again. However it looks like your customer was on their first order which makes this unlikely. My only suggestion is that they may have pasted their details in from a non-UTF-8 source, or maybe they were using a really old browser which does not support UTF-8. If you can obtain the correct text from the customer, try a test transaction on your cart to see what I mean. Any further information you can get, such as what browser the customer was using would be very useful in investigating this further. Many thanks Support |

"Can you confirm that you are advising us to adopt one of the following options?
1/ Switch off the UTF-8 setting within RC and send readable email confirmation messages to the customer but print scrambled addresses within RC or 2/ Switch on the UTF-8 setting within RC and print a readable address on the invoice within RC sales manager but send email confirmation & despatch messages containing scrambled addresses Please advise " Dear Support This scrambled addresses is a big problem to a lot of us and something that should be sorted prior to you working on new and unasked for additions to the cart, with increased worldwide ordering on the internet we need to be able to read our overseas customers addresses. You say you cannot reproduce the problem however I assure you that there is one as a number of us have stated here on the forum and I am sure have also sent direct emails to you on the subject. As the prev. post above states it does not matter if we have the UTF-8 switched on or off as both give scrambled addresses via Romancart. Can you please try to sort this major problem we users have with the system? Red |

Hi,
We would recommend that you switch on utf-8. This will send the email and show the screens with the UTF-8 character set. It all works fine when we try it, so it must be something to do with some browsers not supporting utf-8, which must be very old or something. As soon as we can reproduce the problem then we will be in a much better position to advise. If you find a way to do this then please let us know. Many Thanks Support |

Hi,
This means that you are using an email reader which is not capable of reading utf-8 encoding. Please can you double check this and let us know. Many Thanks Support |

Hi Support
We have just done a new test sale to test the email reader and get the same results both with BT outlook web mail with the UTF-8 set on and also with Windoes live mail again with the UTF-8 set as on, both give an unreadable result Red |
