Don't think this is a Romancart problem, but I've just had a regular customer email me to say that when they are trying to pay for an order via Worldpay they get the error message:
"Card validation challenge was not attempted" Has anyone else ever seen this error? I've tried Googling it, but no mention of any message like that. Customer has tried a couple of times in the past 24 hours, and she gets the same message. She's ordered from other websites (i.e. not using Worldpay) successfuly in the past 24 hours, with the same card - so the card is OK. I'm a little mystified. Don't really want to hang on the phone waiting to talk to Worldpay about it. Andy |

WorldPay have been suffering from fraudsters "testing" cards using attempts to buy things for 1p etc as reported by me recently. So to trap bogus computerised attempts at fraud genuine uses have to agree they are a human and not a robot. Do a purchase on your own site to see that it looks like. They also now offer compulsory authentication of the card - ie forced entry of the 3 last digits on the back of the card - all a good idea in my experience. The CAPTCHA routine is in no way sinister - but I appreciate some prospective purchasers can be jumpy.

Jackslad, thanks for this. You are spot on! We had a lot of "card testing" dummy transactions attempted earlier this month, and so this must be Worldpay's additional security measure, to try and prevent these.
I just wish that they could think of a more user-friendly error message than "Cardholder validation challenge was not attempted." - it would have made it much clearer if the message was "Please tick the 'I Am Not A Robot' box before continuing." .... Thanks again Andy |

Well, it looks like customers not only have to tick the "I Am Not A Robot" box, they also (randomly) have to click on certain images e.g. lorries, shop fronts, to confirm they are human. I had one customer freaking out about this, she didn't know if it was a virus or something. Also, the http: in her address bar was crossed out in red, indicating a non-secure connection. All of this (having phoned Worldpay) is apparently normal.
I expect to see a large number of abandoned carts as a result of this change. I understand why they have done it, but it is not user-friendly at all. Andy |
