I have had some orders on which customers have paid by e-cheque, paypal have notified me of this with an estimated clearance date and the order is marked as pending in my roman cart sales, but as my items are on digital download how do i stop the customer downloading before their payment is completed.

Hi,
The customer will not receive the link to the digital vault until the payment notification has come through as completed.
Kind Regards

I have had a couple of orders that the download link on the order has been clicked on the same day of purchase, the customer has not let me know that they have been unable to get their order.

Hi,
You need to manually set the transaction to Paid on the sales manager. We have modified it so that downloads will not be delivered in future with pending echeque transactions on PayPal Express.
Many Thanks Support

When waiting for an e-cheque payment to clear, does the 48 hour download time go on hold, as it will have run out by the time the transaction is marked as paid (usually 3-5 days)and the customer is unable to download their items.

It doesn't seem that this problem is fixed?
My customer chose to pay by eCheque (RC10337874). It is not paid. But the Romancart system issued the Confirmation email which contains the download link to the product I sold him?
How do I fix this?
I've used a temporary fix by clicking 'send the invoice as the confirmation email' which I believe has no download link information, but this forces me to manually email every customer the link. Not sure if the checkout procedure shows other download links before confirmation emails?
I couldn't find where to modify this eCheque behaviour on the Paypal merchant interface either.

Hi,
As a temporary thing, there is an option (somewhere) in Paypal to not accept echeques. It took me ages to find it last time I tried and I can't remember where it was, plus the interface has changed since then

Hi, To do this, in the Paypal page, mouse-over Profile, go down and click My Selling Preferences, and then check the box to block e-cheque payments.

Thanks, yes I found that, but that blocks ALL eCheque payments, which means customers who want to use that facility can't. Sometimes they don't even know that Paypal is using eCheque funding (they don't have enough in Paypal, and their credit card doesn't authorise, so Paypal will use bank funding). I'd like to accept eCheques, I just don't want Romancart to send out the confirmation mail until it has ticked over to PAID.

And that Paypal 'block' option also unfortunately blocks German bank transfer in the same tickbox, which some of my customers use...

Related to this post, I've found that when customers order a digital doanload and pay by cheque, and then I set the status to 'Set to Paid (confirmation email)', no download link at all is sent to the customer (not in the original email, or the confirmed paid email). How can I get romancart to send the download link(s) out once cheque payment has been received? Any clues? Thanks, Alex.

Hi, What is the order number? The most likely cause is if you have configured the confirmation email to be the invoice which does not contain download links. Many Thanks Support

Thanks for your reply - latest example is order no. 11171877.
How do I reconfigure the confirmation email to include a link to the digital download?
Thanks, Alex.

Hi, The digital download will not be triggered for echeques, because the way and time they take to process conflicts with the links generated in the Digital Vault. We would recomend that you do not accept E Cheque payments through PayPal for digital downloads.
Kind Regards

Hi Oliver,
It's not an e-cheque I'm using: it's a standard cheque. When the cheque is received from the customer by post, I want to go in and release the digital download (ideally through the confirmation email, if possible). Is that possible at all?
Thanks, Alex.

Hi Alex,
I'm afraid not, you would have to use a payment gateway to do this as the cheque option will never give your customers the option to download your file. If you are using the cheque option you have to send them the download.
Thanks
James
