Newbie; How to test the checkout page

Hi,

I am new to Roman Cart, so please go easy on me :-)

I have nearly finished my web site, which will only be using Paypal for payments (for the moment anyway), and read somewhere that people often do not realise that they can pay with paypal using a credit/debit card without having to register with Paypal, because Paypal don't make this facility obvious within it's checkout system. Therefore, I wanted to have a "I'll show you how" page to explain how Paypal works so there is no confusion on how to pay. However, I do not know how to test the checkout system on a non-live web site, as I wanted to see all the payment processes, so I can describe the procedure properly, and if possible have small screenshots as well. Can anyone explain if it is possible to fully test the cart & checkout system using Paypal and go through until just before payment, so I can give the customer this information.

I read on a forum a few days ago (I think it was the paypal business help forum), that some have been contacted by prospective customers who could not figure out how to pay using a credit card, as they do not have a paypal account. The poster explained that when going through the checkout system, you can pay without having a paypal account, but it is not clear to the customer.

I do agree that many people have paypal account these days, but since my prospective audience are from a wide range of age groups (audio enthusiasts), then many might not have such accounts, but everyone uses credit cards. This is why I was going to have a tutorial.

Thank you very much for your help; It's very much appreciated. Also, your advice is very much welcome, and I will certainly have a good think about whether it is worth the time to make the "how to" page. Since you have explained I can add text to the cart on checkout, I think this would actually be better.

I could not figure out how to implement having alternate text in the cart, but have set up paypal to work following the procedure set out on the Roman cart web site, so now I can go through the checkout procedure. I have just put a note on my web site to click on the "Don't have a paypal account" link in the checkout page.

The site is basically finished (except for formatting the pages to be neater), and what I wanted to do was make the "continue shopping" button take the customer back to the page they were on last. Since I haven't uploaded it yet, can this be set in the basket preferences. It only gives a setting to input a url which obviously, I do not have yet.

In the site builder I am using (web builder 8), I can make a button with the attribute to "go to the previous page". This is what I would like to do for the "continue shopping" button in the cart.

Is it possible ?

Hi again sorry I forgot you also wanted how to add text to the cart its at Tools, customize the cart which will take you to the page where you can add code to the Header or foot of the basket or checkout page if you want to add a note for your customers re paypal
